I have for awhile been wanting to be able to figure out how much power my meter was using daily, without reading the meter at the same time everyday, I also want to be able to graph my power usage.

The cheapest Arduino money can buy
So curiosity got the better of me and I wandered since Arduino is open source, if it would be possible to build an arduino without any pull-up resistors, fancy oscillators, simply a chip and a breadboard. Oh and I wanted to make sure it was cheap!

Connected Pig Feeder
So this weekend I had some spare time and about a month ago I ordered some switches that would toggle if the lever was pushed. I have six pigs and one feeder with four lids. I thought wouldn’t it be fun to put these switches in the feeder and capture when the lid closed.

Xbee sending Maxbotix Proximity Sensor
I finally had some time at work to finish testing the Maxbotix sensor hooked to an Arduino and finally to a Xbee. This tasked turned out to be simple with one hiccup.

Arduino Amperage Sensor
So I think the thing that excited me the most about getting into making circuits was trying to get a handle of the things all around me, trying to grasp what is accepted and start to understand it. This for me, started with the essentials, bills that no matter how much money or who you knew you had to pay, Like for example electricity.

Meat Temp probe to Arduino
So I bought a new Smoke Hollow smoker, I switched from the Bradley to this smoker, since my Bradley quit working, and it was quite a bit of $$ to replace it, Also the Bradley required custom bisquettes, and I was ready to try some different woods (like Jack Daniels)!

Arduino Read Serial Input
Here I am again, talking about another thing I really struggled with, reading an input from the serial on the Arduino. I am using a 2560 hooked to my Raspberry Pi on Serial1, you might have an Uno or something, the directions are probably similar, but you only get the single shared serial port.

HRXL-MaxSonar 7366 Arduino with Serial
I really struggled with getting the new 10 Meter HRXL-MaxSonar to work with Serial. The Pulse width seemed very inaccurate, and the voltage I had to take 100 samples and average them together, but the Serial was the ticket. The only problem…the Arduino UNO dosen’t have any accessible Serial pins when working with the computer and the arduino and my laptop.
